Washing a wool garment requires special care to preserve the quality and durability of the delicate material. Gentle hand washing is the best way to go. Below are detailed instructions for handwashing a wool coat.
When handwashing a woolen garment, it's important to first fill a tub with lukewarm water. The water shouldn't be too hot to prevent the wool from shrinking. Add a special wool detergent to this water and mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
Once the detergent is well distributed in the water, place the wool garment in the prepared water. Make sure that all fibers of the coat are completely soaked. This allows the detergent to penetrate deep into the fibers and clean thoroughly.
The wool garment is then gently pulled through the water, occasionally kneading gently with your hands. This step serves to gently loosen dirt particles and debris from the material without damaging the fibers. It's important not to rub or wring too hard during this process to avoid deforming the garment.
After this cleaning process, the garment must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water. This step should be repeated until no soap residue is visible in the water. Inadequate rinsing can result in detergent residue remaining in the fabric, which could permanently damage the fibers.
Squeeze out excess water very carefully, too. Instead of wringing the garment, squeeze the water gently to avoid overstretching the delicate wool fibers. After squeezing, gently pull the garment into shape.
To dry, hang the garment on a sturdy hanger. It's important to ensure the garment isn't hung near a warm heater or in direct sunlight. Excessive heat or sunlight can damage the fibers, leading to warping or stiffening.
We are Moshiki.
A fashion label that has been bringing color to our wonderful world since 2007. Based in Munich, we are a small team of creative dreamers and practical thinkers working to achieve our goal: affordable, yet fairly produced clothing and accessories! Our focus is on the production of knitwear, women's wear, and the Hot Cookie wrap skirts for which we are widely known.
From the very beginning, we have worked closely with our dedicated producers in Nepal, Thailand, and India. Their well-being is our top priority, and we regularly visit them on-site. We pay close attention to the processes in the production facilities and the treatment of our employees.
